- a black viscous mixture of hydrocarbons obtained naturally or as a residue from petroleum distillation. It is used for road surfacing and roofing.
Bitumen available in three state
1. solid state in called asphalt.
2. samiflluid state is called mineral tar
3. fluid state is called petroleum.
